Play European Roulette
European Roulette is the traditional casino game made famous in places like Monte Carlo. Also called "Continental" or "French" Roulette, the game has one of the lowest house advantages of any casino table game. In other words, it is easier to win cash when you play European roulette.
How to win at European Roulette
To win at European Roulette, you need to predict where the ball will land after each spin. There is really no good, scientific way to do this. Pure chance and luck play an important part in the game. While some believe there are certain winning numbers (referred to as 'hot' numbers), there really is no evidence that these numbers come up with any more frequency than other numbers.
Don't Break the Law (of Probability That Is!)
Sometimes, players feel that numbers which have not come up for some time are more likely to be chosen than others. But according to the laws of probability, every number has the same chance of coming up every spin. If the ball lands on lucky seventeen twice in a row, it has the same odds of coming up on the third spin as any other number.
Why European Roulette is better
Unlike other versions of roulette, European roulette uses a wheel with thirty-six numbers plus one slot for the green zero. Other types of roulette (non European) have a zero and a double zero losing space. What that means practically is that the house advantage in European Roulette is 2.7 percent. If you are an experienced gambler, you know that that is very low for a casino table game. What it really means is that the house will come out slightly ahead over very long periods and high volume gambling. For the single player going up against the house, the odds might as well be even.
Best Bets in European Roulette
To maximize the odds of winning, bet one of the even money categories. You can bet on red or black, odd or even, and so forth. If you do, then you will win almost half the time you play. (You won't win exactly half the time because about once every thirty-seven spins, the ball will land on the green zero slot.) For example, let say you bet on "Even." That means that every time the ball lands on an even numbered slot, you win an amount equal to your bet. If you bet one hundred time in a row, the odds are that you will win 47 or 48 times. Now the times you win will not come out at regular intervals. So if you have won thirty-two times out of the first fifty spins, the law of averages says you should quit for a while and bank your winnings.
