Poker the Texas Way - Big, Fast, and Profitable
Texas Hold 'em Poker is becoming the most popular poker variant in the world. Guys sitting in Mongolia who have never heard of Texas are now playing and slapping down their cash in anticipation of the "show down".
What's in Your Pocket?
In Texas Hold 'em, you only get two cards that you can call your own. These are dealt face down and referred to as the "pocket" cards. They are your key to victory, the foundation of your winning hand. At the end of the deal, it will be only these two cards that will make the difference between you and everyone else. Guard your secret cards well.
Community Chest
In between rounds of betting, a total of five "community" cards are dealt face up. You should consider these cards as part of your now seven card hand. Along with your two pocket cards, you try and put together a hand that will beat everyone else. Don't get to excited if the five community cards are really good. The reason they are called community cards is that everyone playing uses them to form a seven card hand. Think of it as seven card stud where everyone has to show everyone else five of their seven cards.
Base Your Bets on your Pocket
Even if the community cards are all aces (yes, you can have five aces since the game uses multiple decks), don't get too excited. Everyone can use those five Aces. The winner will be determined by what is left in your hand, the two pocket cards. If you have a pair, then forget about the community aces, you are in great shape. The higher the value of your pair, the greater your chance of locking in a win and cleaning up the table.
Five Parts Community and Two Parts Pocket Make the Ultimate Straight or Flush
Of course, the best wins are when you can use the community cards in a way that no one else can. Let’s say the community pile is made up of a four, five, six, seven, and eight. If your two pocket cards are a three and a nine, you will win regardless of whether someone else has a pair of aces in their pocket. A seven card hand made up of both pocket and community cards will always win if you have the right winning combination.
Don’t Be a Stranger to Online Texas Poker
The best news is that now you can use these same strategies to play and win Texas hold ‘em anywhere you have an Internet connection. You can play Texas Hold ‘em poker at dozens of online casinos. Many of these casinos use the high tech version created by Microgaming, one of the online gaming industry leaders in Internet Entertainment.
