A Short Summary of the Origins of Sic Bo
The name Sic Bo originally meant "two bricks" and was played in ancient China with some kind of small bricks. The name changed over the years to mean "dice pair", and it arrived in the west with several other Asian casino games with the great Chinese immigration to the U.S. in the early twentieth century.
Today, Sic Bo is played with three dice which are rolled or shaken in a special cup or basket, and with a colorfully marked table. The table markings display a variety of bets somewhat like roulette. The winning areas light up with various colored lights which is one of the biggest attractions of Sic Bo over other casino games.
Sic Bo is extremely popular in Asian countries but it can now be found both in land and online casinos. In land casinos it is generally located in an area especially designated for Asian casino games. It is considered a rather uneven game of chance meaning that the house odds are not always to the player's advantage.
An Explanation of How to Play Sic Bo
The object of the game of Sic Bo is to guess the result of the totals, or combination of totals of the rolled or shaken dice. Players can make one or more bets on the table, and there are several kinds of bets which can be made on the outcome of the dice roll.
The Sic Bo table is numbered from 4 to 17, and the bets are typically designated as "big" or "small".
Big Bet - the total score of the three dice will fall between the numbers of 11 and 17.
Small Bet - the total count of the dice will ball between the numbers of 4 and 10.
Single Bet - betting that a specific number (1 through 6) will show on any one or more of the dice.
Two Numbers - betting that a combination of two numbers will show on the dice.
Totals Bet - a bet on the total count (4 to 17) of the three dice.
Any Pair - betting that a pair of a certain number will show up.
Triplets - betting that all three dice will show a specific number. This, of course, is the most difficult bet to achieve. It pays 180 to 1, but if you lose it has a large house advantage and is generally considered the worst bet at the Sic Bo table.

How to Play Sic Bo and Win
There seems to be no real satisfactory advice on how to win at this king of Asian casino games. Since it is completely a game of chance, there really is no known strategy.
Most Sic Bo players believe that the best results are achieved with the Small and the Big bets. Therefore, it probably pays to place Small and Big Bets at every game, plus additional ones if you are feeling adventurous.
