Land Based Keno
Anyone who has ever played the game of Bingo at a church social or a charity event will already have the basic idea of how to play land based Keno. In order to popularize the game of Keno, land casinos have created special Keno lounges with comfortable armchairs, a brightly lit Keno board displaying numbers from one to eighty and a big ball or basket with the eighty numbered balls twirling around at the touch of the caller's spin.
Each keno player receives one or more tickets, the number depends on how much the player intends to bet, and a pencil. He marks the tickets with his choice of numbers up to a maximum of ten. Bets are relatively low, generally starting at $1, but then the payouts are also low. Unless, of course, if the player has marked the maximum of ten numbers and all ten are "hits" - picked by the random generated computerized twirling ball. Then the player wins the keno jackpot! Unfortunately, this doesn't happen very often, but the temptation to try is always in the air.
Land based Keno is relaxing because there is no great thought process involved. It is a guessing game: guess the right numbers and you have won. The only worry the player has is to hand in his winning ticket before the next game is played in order to collect his winnings. If he misses the right time, he has lost his money.
Online Keno
Online Keno is naturally a game between the player and the "house", in other words - his computer. There are no keno tickets and no pencils. Instead, the player uses his computer screen as his ticket and his mouse as his pencil. Due to the advancement in computer graphic technology, the online Keno screen is every bit as colorful as the board found in a Keno lounge. Also, the audio sounds give the online player the feeling that he is actually sitting in a Keno lounge. He will hear the whirr of the turning basket, and the winning numbers light up on his computer Keno board. He needn't worry about turning in tickets to collect winnings, because his winnings are displayed on the screen.
With online Keno, the player is in complete control. He can take all the time in the world to choose his numbers and to decide when to click on the "Spin" button to begin the game. He can pause for a drink, a trip to the loo, or a phone call. No rush. No hassle.
